An absolute divorce is a state-specific proceeding of family law allowing the complete dissolution of a marriage. Depending on differing state laws, various grounds for obtaining an absolute divorce are permitted, if the absolute divorce process is permitted in that state. An absolute divorce immediately dissolves a marriage, grants both individuals right to remarry immediately if desired, and takes into account all other important family law considerations.
