Amicable Divorce

An amicable divorce refers to a no contest, or uncontested divorce. This option has become more and more popular over the past 30 years, as individuals who are able to agree on the terms of their divorce can file without the cost or added time factors of hiring an attorney. When a couple has agreed upon the terms of their divorce, which could include child custody, child support, visitation rights, spousal support and the division of marital assets, they must obtain, fill out and file the appropriate divorce forms for their respective family courts. Following the mandatory waiting period which is different within each state, and subject to court approval, the couple will be granted a final divorce, including any and all terms that they spelled out within their final decree.
