Annulment Court

Divorce and annulment court are usually the same thing, with the exception that the final rulings have entirely different effects. When a judge agrees with the terms of a divorce or an annulment they are ending the marriage, but in the case of annulment they are finding that the entire marriage was void from the outset due to a specific set of facts or issues. Divorce demands that one or both parties have a legally recognized reason for ending the union, but the annulment court will only erase a marriage based on very specific reasons that must be met and proven by one or both parties involved. While a marriage might end in divorce due simply to "irreconcilable differences", someone petitioning for annulment must present their claim and all of the evidence to prove it.
