Changing Child Custody

When a couple decides to separate and begins divorce proceedings, they are going to have to make a number of formal arrangements. These will most often include financial issues and also focus on child custody and visitation. Many people outline their intentions in a formal parenting plan, which is part of the divorce paperwork. Once the divorce is finalized, however, changing of child custody rulings is still possible. While all states have rules and laws about divorce and custody, there are many events and occasions that permit the changing of child custody arrangements. For example, the death of one parent can cause the custody settlement to be redesigned, but so too can bad judgment and poor behavior of one parent as well. If a parent is interested in changing the child custody arrangements, they must consult with an attorney before filing any paperwork or claims.
