Child Custody Agreement

Child custody agreements typically become part of the final divorce decree when couples have children together, or adopt children, during their marriage. The child custody agreement outlines not only which parent will obtain full or even partial custody of the children in question, but also visitation rights, and financial support. The child custody agreement within most states is considered to be in-force until the child becomes ムof age', defined as 18 in most states, although this can vary. Child custody agreements can also involve spilt custody arraignments, where both parents share in the requirements to raise the child. And, some couples decide to include more specific information about where and how the child will be raised within their agreements, although this is not a standard practice for most couples.
