Child Custody for Fathers

Fathers have equal rights to fight for custody as the mother. Custody can include sole or joint, with the majority of fathers winning joint custody of their children in the event that there is not a reason where the mother is considered unfit. Family courts render custody decisions which provide the greatest level of benefit for the children often involving selecting the parent which is most fit to raise the children, or awarding joint custody in situations where it is a possibility. Child custody falls into one of two categories- legal or physical. Legal custody involves the ability for one or both parents to make legal decisions, typically in the areas of medical or education. Physical custody refers to where the child will physically reside. These custody arrangements can be offered to one or both parents and the custody decision for physical and legal does not need to be the same.
