Child Visitation Guidelines

Child visitation guidelines state the terms in which the non-custodial parent can visit with their child or children. These guidelines are often granted on a flexible basis, allowing the couple to determine the time and dates for visitation. Most couples prefer a more flexible visitation schedule as it permits them to work around the needs of the family and the child. In the event that the couple is unable to make a flexible visitation schedule work, the judge can award a fixed schedule which includes specified times and dates for meetings. For example, a fixed visitation schedule could state every Tuesday and Thursday, along with every other weekend and every other holiday. In order for any visitation agreement to work for both the couple and the child, both parents must be able to communicate effectively with one another.
