Custodial Parent

In the family courts system, the custodial parent is spouse that retains primary custody of children following a divorce. The custodial parent is charged with the daily maintenance of children, including food, health, school, and other considerations, as well as making long term decisions that are in the best interest of the child. Custodial parents may be entitled to compensation in the form of child support payments from non-custodial parents, as well as potentially some forms of alimony payments as well. Typically, the custodial parent will full physical custody of a child, save for other pre-arranged schedules made in the courts.
