Custody and Visitation

When couples with children file for divorce, two issues that are addressed within the divorce decree are child visitation and custody arrangements. Custody can involve full or partial rights, and can be offered to either or both parents. Visitation typically refers to the non-custodial parent, although in joint custody agreements they refer to both parties. And, visitation rights can also include grandparents. Most courts will allow the couple to develop their own custody and visitation schedules, although they will step in during difficult divorce cases when the couples cannot reach an agreement. The court's ultimate goal is to do what's in the best interest of the children.
