Dads Custody

As recently as the 1970s it was "expected" that a divorced couple with children would arrange for the mother to be the custodial parent. This tended to imply that a father's relationship with his children would be on a part-time and very limited basis. Today, however there are many dads with custody of their children simply because it was the logical decision. The custodial parent is now the parent who is capable of serving the best interest of the children. This does not mean that dads with custody have all of the authority in making major life decisions for their children, however. Most joint custody arrangements mean that parents still share the control, but one will provide a majority of the day to day care. The reason for so many dads with custody has to do with changes in the way divorce and parenting is viewed. Today, many people work to keep their divorces amicable in order to provide a healthier transition for children.
