Divorce Custody Laws

Divorce and custody laws are not the same for all states, and if a couple has decided to legally end their marriage they should make themselves aware of the laws and rules that apply to their situation. For example, divorce and custody laws in a single state might allow for joint custody of varying kinds, and only by doing a bit of research and speaking with legal professionals will the couple know the right choice. While divorce laws have little to do with the well-being of the individuals involved, the majority of custody laws focus primarily on the best interests of the child or children involved. For instance, many states have eliminated the original version of joint custody from their guidelines because evenly splitting a child's time between two households is not a healthy arrangement.
