Family Law Forms

Family law forms are available online for most states. These can be used to deal with legal issues such as paternity tests, domestic violence/restraining orders, name changes, and adoptions. Forms having to do with divorce, child custody, visitation, and support payments also fall into the family law category. Many state government websites offer forms such as child support worksheets free of charge to the general public. Additional information such as detailed instructions is also made available for some of these forms. Although some family law forms may be filed without the assistance of a lawyer, the court's filing fees still apply. Some forms such as motions, petitions, and complaints must not only be filed with the court but also served to the other party who will be affected. There are additional fees associated with having the Sheriff's office or a private process server perform this function. Some family law forms can be served via certified mail.
