Fast Divorce

A fast divorce is only possible if both spouses agree to dissolve their marriage. With enough money, a consenting couple can get a divorce in the Dominican Republic without a waiting period and with no residency requirement. At least one of the spouses must actually travel to the Republic to make a one day court appearance. The other can sometimes complete a notarized power of attorney accepting the jurisdiction of the Dominican court system. The couple must also have reached an agreement about assets and child custody issues. To play it safe, many couples choose to turn to Nevada for a fast divorce. Once a short residency requirement has been met, a divorce decree can be issued quickly. A Reno divorce to which both parties freely consented is valid in all 50 states.
