Georgia Child Support

The Georgia Department of Human Services operates the Child Support Services division (OCSS). This service is available to all Georgia families. They will help to establish paternity, establish and enforce child support orders, collect and distribute child support, among other things. It is a completely free program. They handle all of the legalities and paperwork associated with the court filings and proceedings. You will not have to pay for a thing. It is to the advantage of any Georgia family to use the OCSS to their benefit and to aid them in collection of child support. Child support in Georgia is based off of the income of both parents, as it is just as much a responsibility of one parent as it is the other. Other aspects that are taken into consideration are: pre-existing child support orders, other children who are from previous relationships, health insurance and related costs. You can find a child support calculator on the internet for the state of Georgia. Even though the figures may not be accurate, they are approximate and will help you get an idea of what the child support payments will be.
