Georgia Child Support Services

Individuals within the state of Georgia seeking assistance with filing an original child support claim or who have general questions can find answers on the government's website or by visiting the Office for Child Support Services. The state has eliminated the option to pay child support via traditional checks, moving to an electronic payment system. This new system has eliminated many issues surrounding slow to pay and non payments. The state offers other services for parents as well, including the Fatherhood Services Network, a program founded in 1997 to help non-working fathers with child support obligations find gainful employment within the state. To begin receiving child support for a child within the state of Georgia, the first step is to create an open case. Then, active steps will be taken to locate the non-custodial parent. If paternity has not already been proven, paternity tests will be ordered. Upon verification of paternity, the individual must file a support order.
