Georgia Family Law

The Georgia family law court system works to provide legal support for individuals and families looking to address issues within the following areas: child support, spousal support, child custody, child visitation, marriage, divorce and annulment. The Georgia family court system prefers couples to work out any issues on their own or with the assistance of a mediator prior to filing for a hearing with a judge. Many issues can be resolved through discussion or mediation along with the filing of the appropriate legal forms with the respective family court. Mediation offers a qualified individual who is trained to lead effective discussions between two parties and is a strong alternative to court. In the event that a case appears before a Georgian judge, they will render a decision which is in the best interest of both parties, and when children are involved, in which is best for the child.
