Maryland Child Support

Child support laws are essentially the same in each state; however, the technicalities of the laws are varied. To learn more about the Maryland Child Support laws you can either consult with an attorney or research the internet, as there are several websites available that are dedicated to this subject. According to Maryland child support laws, both parents are equally responsible for support of the child or children, based upon their adjusted annual incomes. Child care expenses can be considered when the courts are trying to determine the amount of child support. If one of the parents is voluntarily impoverished, the courts will still figure child support based upon the potential income that they could earn if they were working. Excess payments will not be credited to any future child support that is owed. Excess payments, however, can be applied towards back child support that is owed. The courts will verify the income of both parents and ask for records for past income years, as well. Based upon the adjust income of the parents, the courts will decide how much responsibility that each party will assume.
