No Fault Divorce

A no fault divorce is defined as a divorce proceeding whether neither party alleges fault or wrongdoing as the cause of the end of the marriage. All states, except for New York, allow no fault divorces to occur. These divorces are also sometimes referred to as no contest or uncontested divorces. No fault divorces were not allowed in the United States until the early 1970's, which gradually over time came include forty-nine other states allowing no fault divorces by the year 2000. A no fault divorce process is significantly cheaper and quicker than traditional fault based divorces.
