Parental Rights

In today's society, both parents have rights when it comes to the children who are involved either in the divorce or legal separation. Parental rights are also guaranteed to parents who have never been married. Each state has different laws that govern parental rights and to learn more about the parental rights laws that are associated with your state, you can search the internet, as there are several websites that are available that contain specific information for each state. Fathers' rights have come a long way in the past few years. In years past, fathers didn't have many rights and in most cases, custody was awarded to the mother. Nowadays, fathers can receive sole custody just as the mother can. The mother can also be made to pay child support just as fathers usually did. One could argue that no parent has parental rights and that the parental rights belong to the child. It is the child's right to have both parents involved in their lives, to have the support of both parents and the like. Just remember to keep your child's best interests in mind and not yours.
