When a couple is about to wed they might need to sit down with a prenuptial attorney in order to draft a prenuptial agreement. This is a document that does quite a few things ﾖ it itemizes the assets and goods that each party is bringing into the marriage; it establishes any payments to be made should the marriage fail; and it addresses how assets will be directed towards children and heirs from previous marriages. Clearly this is not a romantic experience just prior to a wedding, but it is often one that spares one or both parties from significant financial loss should the marriage suffer a breakdown at a later date. It also saves additional time and money by avoiding such things as negotiations about alimony or support and the distribution of material property and assets.
