Do It Yourself Prenuptial Agreement; Can it be done?

My fiance and I just are in our early '30s and would like to draft our own prenuptial agreement.  Can it be done?

While it is preferable in some cases involving overly complex situations to have a premarital agreement drafted by a family law attorney who specializes in divorce, with each prospective spouse represented by his or her own lawyer, you can create your own prenuptial agreement by purchasing an online legal kit.  You and your partner should ensure that the contract is legal and binding.  Many reliable and qualified law companies sell  prenuptial legal kits that provide state-specific documents.  There are also books that offer a step-by-step explanation of how to draft your own prenuptial agreement, with detailed coverage of each state's laws governing marital property and this type of contract.  A do-it-yourself prenuptial agreement will save you a lot of money and help protect your assets.  However, you should only proceed with one if both you and your fiance speak fluent English, have a similar level of education, and are at an equal bargaining position.  Finally, you should make sure that the agreement is signed before witnesses.
