Does a legal separation mean we have to divorce?

My husband and I need to take a break from each other. If we get a legal separation does that mean we have to get a divorce?

No, getting a separation does not mean that you have to get a divorce. It just means that it allows you to live in separate houses without fear of being accused of abandonment. In a legal separation your marriage is still valid and you can use this as a time for giving each other some space, and/or working out your problems.
