I am going through a Divorce but travel a lot, how long will it take and how many times do I go to court?
Me and my wife have been having marital issues for a while and is now filing for a Divorce. My job requires me to travel frequently and keeps me pretty tied up. How long does the divorce process usually take? How many court appearances would I have to show up for?

The length of time divorce takes is entirely dependent on a case by case basis and depends on a variety of factors. If all aspects of the Divorce such as child custody, separation of assets, spousal support and so forth are quickly and mutually agreed upon, a final court ruling can take place in 3-4 months. A paralegal would be able to help you out in filing the paperwork properly and an attorney would not be required. However, if there are disagreements and more complexities, each party would have an attorney review the case and inform each party of their legal rights. A pre trial would occur where the initial hearing takes place in front of the judge and the case would then begin. There could potentially be a few preceding courtroom hearings where documents, evidence, and disagreements between you and your spouse need to be worked out. In that situation, the divorce process can take as long as 9 months to even a few years. Please read the following article for more resources.
