In Connecticut, and all states, you must be divorced from a previous marriage for all other marriages to be legal. This means that you and your husband’s marriage is not valid and therefore you don’t have rights to each other’s property and other provisions married couples are entitled to. If you want your marriage to be legal, he will have to divorce his ex-wife and then you can legally be married.
