My husband and I are filing for an uncontested divorce. We have agreed to all the issues of the property division and the kids. Should I still hire an attorney or would that be a waste of money?

While it may not be a waste of money to hire an attorney for an uncontested divorce, it may not be necessary in your current circumstances. Some people may find it worth to money to hire an attorney because they are familiar with the law and the process of filing a divorce. They also typically know the judges and local rules.
On the other hand, if you believe you can maneuver through the process, an uncontested divorce is one type of litigation that you really do not have to hire an attorney. If you decide to go it alone, you should contact the district clerk in your county and the court’s office to find out about any local rules or requirements of the judge to be certain you will file everything correctly.
